In 1984 Grey Lynn locals initiated a peaceful and fun filled day: From the locals for the locals. Over the course of our over 35 year history the Grey Lynn Park Festival has seen some of the biggest names in NZ music play its stages and some of the finest arts, crafts and other goods produced on these islands on its market stalls. A must-visit event on the Auckland event calendar, there is no denying the festivals popularity.

2019 saw a new team of passionate locals take over the Grey Lynn Park Festival, with the mission to continue to provide a day out where everybody in our community can come together and share their talents and smiles with each other.

We are lovers of the arts, music, food and fun and see the Grey Lynn Park festival as community development project that brings together a diverse range of individuals, families and groups to:
Fundraise | Promote | Educate | Enhance skills

  • We involve and support people through participation in the festival either as volunteers, fundraisers, performers, traders, artists, educators.

  • We welcome numerous age groups, cultures, health challenged and those of various religious and political persuasions.

  • We try to maintain an open to all policy to celebrate our diversity and support people powered “ community in action “.

  • We think there is a need to encourage and inspire youth to dream and build skills for the future. We provide a full stage experience for musicians with high school bands sharing the event line up with established NZ artists.

  • We work with groups to raise awareness by educating and interacting with the public on health / wellness, culture, religion, environment / sustainability and gender issues. Artists showcase and / or workshop their skills involving kids, teens and younger and older adults in for example, painting, sculpture, weaving, metalwork.

  • The festival meets the needs for urban dwellers to stay connected to important layers of human life, where laughter and fun brings people together. We think we help build pride and positive interactions between people.

  • As city population grows, people are living closer to others from different cultures, more random acts of kindness in our event helps build a strong community.

The Grey Lynn Park Festival is a platform for our community, if you have ideas, offerings, suggestion and comments we’d love to hear from you! So get in touch here.

What is the most important thing in the world?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
